Art Camp this year was a whirlwind.
Starting with the rain the minute we arrived in Portland. I hadn't seen rain in sooo long I forgot what a pain in the butt it is if you actually have to go out in it. Windshield wipers....what are those? An umbrella...how does that contraption work? Seriously though I couldn't get my umbrella to open which would have been quite comical except for me looking like a wet dog:)
But there was shopping to be done and people to meet!
Which began with our old haunts from last year like Camas and Monticello's.
We then made our way to The Nines in downtown Portland. Amazing hotel and amazing food at the Urban Farmer. Their fingerling potato tart was amazeballs!! The Lemon Drop wasn't bad either:)
On the agenda before heading to Lincoln City was of course Voodoo Donut and Powell's Books which I drug Cheryl to. But she was game even after we got lost a few times. And splashed a few times. Took her to Nordstrom and bought some bracelets and she was happy again:) No sales tax!! Who ever heard of such a thing??!! It was FABULOUS!
That donut was TOTALLY worth the walk!
We got lucky and the weather had calmed. We made it to the houses in record time. Even with a stop at Safeway for essentials like cheeze-its and vodka.
No that is not what my diet consisted of for the weekend:)
These are the gals I spent the weekend with and they are awesome. I haven't laughed so hard in I don't know how long!
It was then time to get down to business with our classes:)
I loved the beading and Amy Hanna. God what a talented lady!! I loved the PMC clay and Terri always manages to teach me something new. The stamping was so much fun. I loved Danita's class. Once she taught us how to paint the face of course!! And she is just a lovely human being. So glad I got to actually chat with her for a while about Mexico (where she lives) and learn more about her life. Her artwork holds a whole new meaing to me now. And isn't that what it's all about?
My shield neckalace with Amy.
My wrap bracelet and snowflake ornament with Terri.
My art doll with Danita who I think needs some wings:)
Loved them all!!
Also got to spend some time in Portland on our last day with Michelle Geller:)
She took us to a place called Cargo which was so cool! Trading beads galore!!
Man that was FUN!!! A must if you are ever in the Portland area. The displays are just awesome and they have such an eclectic array of stuff. Beads, religious relics, blankets, lanterns, tea pots, scissors you name it. It's like a CostPlus World Market on crack!
And then it was back on a plane........
I was so lucky to have been able to go.
Lucky, lucky, lucky!!
Stacy took this picture of us on the beach after a huge storm had passed the day before. I mean seriously how amazing is that?!
Have a wonderful weekend!! Hope it's full of creating:)
