Over the last few weeks I have been cleaning out my home. Every room, every cabinet, every drawer, every closet. Every day I checked another spot off my list. And every other day taking a carload of stuff to Goodwill. It was exhausting!! How did I accumulate so much? When did my kids stop collecting beanie babies and watching Disney videos?? I guess over 15 years in the same home stuff adds up with the 5 of us and I am lucky enough to have many cupboards, drawers and closets to hide it all in! And hiden it was!! I was pulling out crap that I hadn't touched in 10 plus years. It was crazy. But alas it's all DONE!!!!
And with that came the list of what I want to do in the next few years to update our home, we never should have went to the model homes down the street!! Big mistake. Frank was ready for a million dollar mortgage right there and then!!
Me not so much:)
So we agreed to get quotes for some build-ins and new sliding glass door for the family room (I should point out this is what the man agreed to, I have added the later;), new baseboards, new carpet for the stairs and hallway, paint the office again and last but not least the window coverings for the pool table room, kids bathroom and our bedroom. Quite a list right??!! But it won't happen overnight and will give me something to do when he deploys again.
Cleaning everything out actually made me really look around me and consider what I love and what was an impulse buy. What was a phase and what really is timeless. Waterford crystal, grandma's bone china timeless. That halloween cookie jar shaped like a ghost that never fit right in my cupboard, impulse. All those bright multi colored Southern living trays, all that Pampered Chef....PHASE!!
Which makes me wonder..........
Will these be a phase??
That will end up in the back of my car destined for Goodwill????
I found these old frames at Treasures and Junk last week. I had been wanting to make a memory board ever since seeing Rita Reade's at The Vintage Marketplace a few months ago. She is now offering it as a class!! You can click on her name in my "Want to take a Class" tab to the right and it will take you to her classes:)
A little lace, a little board, a little foam and a boatload of staples:)
Some little bits........
So maybe it's a phase:) There was a time when I really loved leopard, zebra and cheetah print. Oh and permed hair with scrunchies lol!!
But for now this is where I am at.......
with cleaned out closets and cabinets ready to be filled again;)
And a studio I have fallen in love with all over again. Where I can sit on the floor and try to make old stuff new again.
*again: once more, anew (I like that anew part:)
Have a wonderful creative week!!
