Day One: C O D Y
My nephew. Looks sort of sweet doesn't he......
Well let's just say he is N O T.
He is 3 going on M O N S T E R.
Which was funny to me because.....
A. I am not his parent.
B. I can leave anytime I want.
C. When he tried to punch me he punched the remote control right beside me instead.
Then we had a stare down......
I think he decided it was best not to mess with Aunt Ann. Because she don't play the whole punching/biting thing. I think he could see in my eyes I have bitten my fair share of toddlers and went on his merry destructive way:)
See the string of "fake" plastic candy he is holding? Well he continued to put those in his mouth over and over again. Now they don't taste like candy but he just wanted to do it because they told him he couldn't. The more his "parents" told him no the more he did it. Then the temper tantrum would ensue.
Those of you who know me know I can't stand screaming kids. If they are in pain that's one thing but just to scream to scream ummmm.......NO!
This went on all day to the point where I wanted to bang my head with the pot I was washing!!!!
Then it happened......
Cody wanted ice cream. We were eating our Thanksgiving dinner and as usual he refused every single thing we put in front of him. In fact the only thing I saw that kid eat all 4 days we were in the pleasure of his company were ice cream cones, marshmallows and potato chips. I take that back he did eat half a banana. The other half he threw on the floor. Which of course I stepped on and proceeded to get it all over my mother in law's kitchen floor.
Anyway so my brother in law has taken himself completely out of the situation and my sister in law is trying to reason with him (yeah right) and all of a sudden he reaches his little arm back and SCREAMS "DON"T TELL ME NO!" and slaps my sister in law right across the face.
The slap heard around the world.....
Because I sucked in my breath like I had just witnessed a car accident or Santa himself walk into the kitchen and the entire room went quite. All 13 of us......
And you know what she did......
She said in a baby voice "cody that wasn't very nice"
And then you know what she did.....
She gave him an ice cream cone. Or I should say my mother in law did but she let him have it and then.....
She praised him for "being such a good boy and eating all his ice cream".....
What the !@#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do have to say without his "parents" there he is a pretty good kid. Rambunctious and ornery but good. I have had him before and he has never given me a problem. My mother in law told them to go have some "alone time" and he was good. You just had to tell him no and be firm and STARE him down. But other than that:)......And you have to play and play and keep him occupied and reroute him sometimes and it does make one very sleepy......
But like I said we all got to go back to the beach at night. And although usually we go right back the next day for breakfast and activities this time we stayed away until about 1p.m. each day:) I can only take so much before I want to throw a tantrum too you know.......
Or knock peoples heads together;)
But it was a valuable lesson for our kids because every night as we drove home and laughed as only a family of 5 with 3 of them being teenagers can do about the day Frank and I reiterated......
1. This is why you don't do drugs (Frank's druggie brother was there too.....another story)
2. This is why you get an education and a good job.
3. This is why you need to pick your wife/husband carefully.
4. This is why you just don't need to have sex.
And....
5. This is why we tell you all this ALL THE TIME!
It is a miserable way to live.
And we will knock your heads together if we have too:)
This is when we get the simultaneous eye roll as only 3 teenagers can do:)
Well I am off. More of my fun holiday tomorrow.......
