Now the definition of luxury is something that is expensive or hard to obtain. That is not necessarily the case. The other part of the definition is something that provides comfort, pleasure or enjoyment. That's what I am talking about. It also says that it is not absolutely essential. With that part I disagree. So I am editing the definiton of luxury to something that provides comfort, pleasure or enjoyment that is necessary to love and appreciate being a woman. I love being a woman. A wife, mother, sister, daughter all of it. In this day and age I think a lot of women do not take enough time for themselves. Some of you are saying easy for her to say she stays home but I did have little one's once and a husband that has been deployed for months at a time over our last 18 years of marriage. And although I do love cleaning (except bathrooms), laundry (love the smell of clean clothes) and cooking it still is part of my duties as a wife and mother. I still get sick kids and have to fight with people on the phone over stupid things like medical records, run errands, grocery shop, get cars washed and gased, schedule kids sports around etc, etc. Sometimes I think it would be easier to get a job:) But even with everything I do for my family I have always maintained a little time for me. Now I am girly there is no doubt but I think all these little luxuries can be enjoyed by anyone of the female species. If it's not for you skip it on the list. I love a nice cold Coke poured in my crown glass and fresh Reese's Peanut Butter cups. For you it may be a Starbucks latte and a scone. Whatever the case may be take time to sit and relax and enjoy it. Never take it to go. Think about it as you eat or drink it. Especially if it's bad, you better be savoring it:)! One thing yoga teaches is to think about what we put into our bodies. Bad or good. Slow down and enjoy it whether it's chocolate cake or a brown rice frittata. Don't ask it wasn't good! So anyway a list of things that make me HAPPY I am a woman:
Beauty:
1. Biore Self Heating Mask (Target and it's awesome)
2. Anything from L'occitane (especially Radiance Moisturizing Cream)
3. Nivea Body Lotion (Costco and belive me I have tried expensive body lotions before this is the best)
4. Laura Mercier LipGlace in Baby Doll (Nordstrom and it looks good on everyone)
5. A 60 Minute Dermalogica facial from Ambiance (heavenly and if you start early it will be better than a face lift at 50:)
6. Kielh's Lip Balm #1 (Nordstrom and I never have chapped lips, put it on before bed every night)
7. Dermalogica Precleanse (dissolves all your makeup)
8. Biolage Shampoo and Conditioner (the most bang for your buck and you can get it at Target now!)
9. Lavendar Candles and Bubble Bath (the absolute best scents come from http://exoticnature.com/)
10. Dior Shadows and Blush (Nordstrom and they have some gorgeous colors)
And lastly a tub. I am not saying you have to take a bath everyday but every once in a while is so nice! And you don't have to have a spectacular tub either. I have taken a bath in a tub that could barely hold water and had a scooby doo shower curtain. Oh how I DON'T miss on post housing:) Light a few candles, turn off the light and add bubbles and it could be just as good as the Ritz. Or not:)
So kick off your shoes and relax. Especially if you've been on your feet all day. Have any energy left?? Go to Target and buy that self heating mask and nothing else!! I guarantee you will love it. More little luxuries later I have to go make dinner now. Oh and here is the link to Nordstrom http://shop.nordstrom.com/?origin=tab-logo some stuff is not as expensive as you think. It's all about quality. Just one little luxury can make one so happy. And the alternative takes way to much energy! Be kind to yourselves.
