With those two things you'd be surprised by the things you can do!!
I took a class with Karen Valentine at Affaire at Downton back in May and I just fell in love with her creations!! So I have been following her blog for awhile but after the event we became Facebook friends which she has links for classes and such. These were a class she was teaching in Arizona last month and although I could not attend that class I was truly inspired to make these myself:) After you have taken a billion classes such as myself, coupled with the fact you have hoarded enough supplies to create a billion projects for years to come, it's no real surprise when you take a closer look at the picture and think to yourself "I can totally do that!".
Now a little disclaimer......
I encourage everyone to take classes, there is nothing like learning tips and tricks from the pros such as Karen. And even though I have taken a billion classes I ALWAYS learn something new and come away inspired. Had I been closer to Arizona at the time I would have totally taken Karen's class. But alas I can't take them all:)
With that said here we go.........
I am actaully related to these people. The middle is my great grandmother, Dollie. Her older sister, Ida. And her brother, Dan. The picture was actually of the 3 of them, I printed it on fabric paper and cut them out. It was taken in the year 1900. Isn't that wild?!!
And that of course is my Grandma Patricia. My mom's mother. I just love this picture I have of her and I use it all the time! It is such a treasure. My grandma Patricia left me many treasures but the most special are all the family photos with the names, dates and who they are on my family tree written on the back of them.
A few close ups.....
Tassel making is something I could do all day. I love the special touch they add to everything. Their visual and textural appeal makes me giddy.
I could also make rosary chain all day:) To hang them I used laces, seam binding, already made rosary chain and then I made some with some old pearls I thought would go well.
Really so much fun!
So do you want to know what the piece is I've painted and glued on???
It's an Altoids tin!!
You can buy them at Target in the 3 packs for less than a dollar a piece!
And yes I will have fabulous breath for the next 6 months with all the mints I have;)
