I have never really considered myself a doll person.
Even when I was little. I had a ratty Raggedy Ann doll I drug around everywhere as a toddler that I can remember but not much else.
Come to think of it I always carried around a purse when I was little......
Hmmm interesting lol;)
But for whatever reason I have become smitten with dolls.
Not those scary doll head things or plastic babies or icky kewpies.
I see those and head for the hills:)
I blame JoAnna Pierotti of Moss Hill Studio:)
Or maybe it even started with Robin Sanchez when I took the class to make the tea cup cage doll.....
I used to run from Charlotte heads too!!
Or maybe it was when I bought my very first Santos in Santa Barbara with my friend Char..........
I have no idea but it seems now I just can't get enough.
I love the rustic, folky, vintage feel and look of them.
I love the aging.
I love the faces. Not overly sweet. Not CREEPY lol:)
I really love all the torn lace, burlap, linens they are usually dressed in.
It's become an obsession!!
Over the weekend I was at Remnants of the Past in San Luis Obispo and I fell in love with her........
My first Nicol Sayre.
I had never heard of her before but knew immediately when I walked into her booth I was in trouble. Her work is incredible and it just draws you in. And after standing there for a half an hour trying to make a decision I finally picked her. Probably because of the Santos like base and her guazy skirt. I could have bought them all they were that awesome!! But alas I only came home with one. My bank account and the man will thank me later;)
That was my big purchase of the weekend:)
Other than that I found a metal Olive basket, 2 vintage cameras, a couple old French doll dresses, some treasures from Tinsel Trading and a pumpkin that says "home" on it that I love!!
The pumpkin lady had it going on!! Friday was a special preview night that Terry, Cheryl and I paid $25 to get in. Well worth it I will tell you that right now!! Not crowded at all!! Except that is for the pumpkin lady!! She must have had over 300 pumpkins and by the time we were leaving that night it looked like a war zone with all the empty crates, boxes and hay all over the place. She had maybe 30 left. Cheryl and I got ours!!:)
It really is a great show. I highly recommend it for next year. I don't see the dates yet but probably May/June.
I'll be there for sure!
